Access Wireline

The Access Wireline is a product designed to deliver bandwidth capacity to the SME’s and residential homes through either copper or fiber, using DSL and GPON technologies respectively.

GPON is a point-to-multi-point fiber to the home solution using passive splitters that are used to enable a single fiber to serve multiple premises. GPON provides high capacity bandwidth thus it is one of the best platforms for the delivery of a myriad of services like High Speed Internet [HSI], IPTV, VoD, and Gaming etc.

To be able to provide this service we need:

• An existing metro fibre network
• An existing backbone network
• GPON OLT
• GPON ONTS
• DSLAM with adsl2+ support
• DSL modems with adsl2+ support

This product targets the following markets: ISP’s, ASP’s, Broadcasters, Cinema Houses, Advertisers, Residents associations, security firms etc. In addition, the product provides a high capacity digital distribution supply from a central reception point to multiple end users premises over a Fiber to the access network. It utilizes a shared fiber infrastructure, based on a multi-way split Passive Optical Network (PON) terminating in the End User premises thus it is able to provide a platform where voice on demand [VoD] and live streaming services can be deployed.

KDN will therefore build both the DSL and GPON networks to enable resellers to provide consumer services over the infrustructure

Technology capacity and enablers

• The modulation on the core hubs need to support 1GB capacity and more
• An fibre and copper OSP (Outside Plant) is a necessity

Distribution situation

Currently we have an existing reseller network comprising of ISPs and Distributors. KDN will build the infrastructure while ISP’s will ride on the infrastructure to develop and sell triple play service under their brands. The service providers will command the end user packaging, pricing, and support.
