Microwave

Africa has very low Internet penetration due to rural-urban population distribution, as a result, KDN has deployed Microwave Transmission Technology within the metro networks, cities and rural areas. Microwave transmission involves the sending and receiving of microwave signals over a microwave link. This microwave link is made up of a string of microwave radio antennas located at the top of towers at various microwave sites.

KDN was the first company to deploy WiMAX services in the Sub-Saharan region, we did this by upgrading one base station at a time and evolving WiMAX 16d version, and developed Wi-Fi and DSL as an alternative for customers who were sensitive about costs, internet reliability. Our future is to be able to provide fast internet services to individual home users and strategic partnerships with broadcasting companies to allow customers to access their favorite stations without need for aerials.

We are also doing advanced testing on WiMAX 16e, a version of WiMAX that is mobile, allows our customer to access internet services on the move thereby providing a variety of solutions for the customer to select from.

We also aim to connecting the whole of Africa to the rest of the world by providing internet connectivity in the rural marginalized areas and promote economic development in the long-run.
