Fiber

KDN has 6253 kilometers of privately owned fiber in East Africa.

Kenya Data Networks Limited is East and Central Africa´s largest Data Network with more than 6000 kilometers of fiber cable laid across the region. We have the largest long-haul fiber optic cable network and currently have a stake in the TEAMS project and also work very closely with SEACOM to distribute their services in the country. Our customers benefit greatly by getting faster internet speeds and lower bandwidth prices. The submarine cable increases the data transmission capacity exceptionally, to be able to meet end user needs. We have provided our distribution centers with enough bandwidth to enable them to offer the end users fast internet speeds from the comfort of their homes.

In recent years it has become apparent that fiber-optics are steadily replacing copper wire as an appropriate means of communication signal transmission. They span the long distances between local phone systems as well as providing the best backbone for many network systems. At KDN, we understand the value of using the best technology in transmitting signals, as a result, we have covered our entire network with fiber.

We are the second largest IP Network in Africa, having laid out our infrastructure to cover most of the regions in Kenya and within East Africa, namely Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to ensure that we deliver excellent service to our customers. Currently apart from providing interconnection between cities, we are expanding and providing interconnection between countries such as Uganda, DRC and Rwanda, so that our customers with business partners within these regions, will be able to communicate freely and enjoy quality service at lower rates.
